A bewildering missing-baby case has a dad in jail now and the infant girl’s relatives frantically looking for her, while local police claim to be understaffed due to the national holiday.
Six-month-old Ember Graham allegedly disappeared from her crib in the early hours of July 2d, according to her father Mathew Graham, who’s since been labeled a Person of Interest in her disappearance.
It’s not clear where the child’s mother was at the time, but investigators jailed 24-year-old Graham when his version of events contained too many “inconsistencies” -- as well as for an additional number of petty violations.
The unexplained holes in his story, combined with driving an unregistered vehicle in town around the time he said Ember vanished, as well as using “medical marijuana” without a prescription, are just a few of the reasons police say he remains behind bars today.
Meanwhile, relatives of the missing baby on the suspect’s side continue to scour the area for her or for any clues as to what may have transpired a week ago; largely unassisted by local authorities in that search because of the Fourth of July weekend.
The child’s mother was the only one among her maternal relatives who were visibly doing the same, strongly suggesting they too may be suspicious of Matthew Graham, although the missing girl’s mom urged reporters not to read anything into their noticeable absence.
“Everybody copes differently,” Jamie Lee Graham vaguely said, indicating her folks were somehow working behind the scenes.
Adding to this missing-person puzzle, investigators apparently believe the child died during an epileptic seizure and that her neglectful parent, high on drugs and/or intoxicated, panicked and disposed of her body.
