PHOTOS: A hunter has found missing woman Lilia Aucapina hanging in woods behind her Long Island home, over a month after her ex husband was arrested for violating a restraining order.
The 40-year-old mother of two vanished on October 10th, immediately following an incident in which her estranged spouse Carlos Aucapina (below) threatened her and a male companion.
Police had to be called to intervene in the incident and only charged Ms. Aucapina’s violent ex with willfully violating the terms of her order-of-protection days after she was reported missing by her children.
He was promptly released, however, and oddly enough is “not suspected” in her highly-suspicious disappearance and death.
Police concede they and other searchers had already thoroughly canvassed the wooded area where the body of Lilia ‘Esperanza’ Aucapina was discovered this weekend hung from a low branch.
Anyone with information about her missing persons case and apparent strangulation is therefore urged to contact detectives at either 631-702-2230 or 631-728-3400.
