A bench warrant for a serial bride who’s just left yet another guy in the lurch -- the NYC judge presiding over her criminal case -- was issued on Monday.
Liana Barrientos has wedded for profit almost a dozen times in the past 11 years, and was scheduled to appear in a Bronx court to answer to related charges on May 18, 2015, but skipped out of town instead.
Prosecutors say she mainly preyed on foreigners hoping to become naturalized citizens in the U.S. via an arranged marriage with the defendant.
Records show that, at one point, bride-for-hire Barrientos was legally married to eight of them at a time and is believed to still be the “wife” of at least four men, barring any proof of divorce proceedings.
According to this year’s criminal complaint, she last exchanged vows in 2010, but has been pursued by New York authorities ever since then for filing a number of false instruments, namely phony marriage licenses.
For those numerous offenses the serial bride was arrested weeks ago and promptly released without bail on her own recognizance, so the 39-year-old’s current whereabouts now are anybody’s guess.
