Two Arrested for ManSpreading in NYC

May 31, 2015

Two late-night riders “manspreading” on a New York City subway were busted by transit cops this month for their weird crime.

Evidently police are finally cracking down on the obnoxious practice of sprawling out on NYC buses and trains, which many inconsiderate people both great and small engage in, to the inconvenience of other passengers.

The two suspects were each independently observed doing just that on a Brooklyn-bound train and ended up in handcuffs for it and having to plead their cases in court.

At arraignment, both accused manspreaders argued that the subway was all but empty at the hour they were traveling on it, so they weren’t bothering anyone. A contention which seemed to sway the judge somewhat.

However, prosecutors rightly noted that manspreading is becoming a major nuisance these days, and that in all boroughs of New York City now the technique is not just considered rude, it’s illegal.

Whether or not committed on a crowded bus, or an empty train.
