A 15-year-old boy has been arrested for killing Madyson Middleton and throwing her in a dumpster not far from the slain child’s home.
"We haven't positively identified her yet, but we believe she is probably Madyson Middleton," a Santa Cruz police spokesman confirmed on Monday after she was found dead.
The sad find yesterday brings to a tragic end a massive search for the missing 8-year-old girl, who vanished over the weekend while riding a new white scooter in her artist-subsidized neighborhood.
The accused teen killer -- just one of many homicidally idle youths making headlines lately with their unspeakably gruesome crimes -- was taken into custody mere minutes after Madyson Middleton’s corpse was discovered in a trash bin.
The neighbor boy’s name, and the motive for his act of violence, has not been released yet.
