Film star Morgan Freeman lost a granddaughter today, after the 33-year-old woman was stabbed multiple times on a sidewalk in Manhattan.
E’Dena Hines was apparently attacked with a knife by her “incoherent” male companion in broad daylight and died later at a Harlem hospital, according to a police spokesman.
The fatal encounter occurred near the victim’s home in Washington Heights at West 162nd Street and Nicholas Ave., but the motive for it is still under investigation.
The suspected assailant, who is believed to be the slain woman’s ex boyfriend, was immediately taken into custody, but transported for psychiatric observation because of his disturbed mental state.
Hines is the daughter of Morgan Freeman’s first wife (by another man), and once rumored to be his paramour as well, a relationship he’s adamantly denied.
The veteran actor has not yet issued a statement regarding her brutal death.
