A real life Detroit Tiger has been captured and the jerk who left it behind during a photo shoot gone awry at the defunct Packard auto-plant this month is under investigation.
British photographer David Yarrow said he got permission to use the abandoned factory for two days but he and his crew was prematurely ejected from the premises when skittish security guards discovered his big and empty wildlife cages.
“This is not something that we would allow to happen here,” explained Kari Smith, director of development for the Packard Plant. “This is not something that we condone in any way.”
One of the unauthorized animal props Team Yarrow brought with them -- a full grown tiger -- managed to elude their hasty roundup and was sighted hours later still roaming the dilapidated building, possibly in search of dinner.
The big cat’s curiosity eventually got the best of it, though, when two clever men lured and cornered it into a stairwell, then used loud power tools to drive the Detroit Tiger back into its portable pen.
The odd wildcat encounter might serve to illuminate some Milwaukeeans who continue to puzzle over the origins of a similar exotic cat freely wandering around their city for weeks now.
To date, however, the camera shy Milwaukee Lion has skillfully evaded capture.
