Manslaughter Trial For Woman Who Coaxed Suicide of BF

Sep 3, 2015

A Massachusetts 18-year-old is facing trial on manslaughter charges for cruelly coaxing her depressed boyfriend to commit suicide.

Prosecutors contend that Michelle Carter played a pivotal role in causing Conrad Roy III to asphyxiate himself via carbon monoxide poisoning last year.

They claim that, without her suicide research and relentless text messages urging him to go through with it, particularly on the night he decided to take his own life, Roy would still be alive today.

The youth was found dead in his truck on July 13, 2014, and a bevy of Carter’s heartless messages hounding him to “just do it” was subsequently discovered on his cellphone at the scene.

“You have to just do it. You have everything you need. There is no way you can fail. Tonight is the night. It's now or never,” one of Carter’s text-messages read.

“But I bet you're gonna be like ‘oh, it didn't work because I didn't tape the tube right’ or something like that. I bet you're gonna say an excuse like that … you seem to always have an excuse.”

In a series of replies, Roy conceded he had serious doubts about the undertaking, to which #MichelleCarter finally responded: "You always say you're gonna do it, but you never do. I just want to make sure tonight is the real thing.”

She then proceeded throughout Roy’s arduous suicide attempt to talk him through it. Until he actually died.

Later, convinced her boyfriend was dead, Carter texted a friend about what she had done to effectuate his death: “Like, honestly, I could have stopped it,” she admitted. “I was the one on the phone with him and he got out of the car because it was working and he got scared. I fucken told him to get back in.”

In fact, just as some killers have been known to do, Carter even reached out by text to the deceased boy’s sister who she knew would be worried about Roy’s state of mind and whereabouts.

“Do you know where your brother is?” she asked.

Michelle Carter now faces trial on manslaughter and related counts for facilitating the carbon-monoxide suicide of #ConradRoy last year, and is next due in court early in October.
