The 14-year-old boy accused of committing matricide in Texas this month had been placed in child protective services at least three times before slaying his mother at the home they shared.
Investigators state that, dating as far back as 2005, the juvenile murder suspect and a younger sibling had each been routinely removed from the slain woman’s custody on suspicion of domestic violence and substance abuse.
The unidentified teen is believed to have “acted alone” in killing his 33-year-old pregnant mother, Nita Mosley. He then fled the crime scene in her vehicle, leaving her corpse to decompose in the kitchen without reporting his parent’s death to authorities.
A curious neighbor discovered the victim’s rotted corpse more than a week later and contacted 911.
Following a weeklong pursuit of Mosley’s missing son, the Texas teen was apprehended while driving her stolen car through Houston.
He is not being charged as an adult in his mother’s murder, although prosecutors have raised the possibility.
