Pennsylvania Cold Case Turns Suddenly Warm (photo)

A startling discovery in a decades-old unsolved homicide turned a classic cold case suddenly warm this week in Pennsylvania.

That’s because murder victim, Betsy Langjahr, found brutally slain in the woods by a conservation officer during the autumn of 1973, was not actually dead.

Yesterday’s revelation that former “runaway” Ms. Langjahr is in fact still alive and well -- and living in “an undisclosed location” -- puts an end to the investigation into her rape and murder over 40 years ago.

Sadly, it also means that detectives are back to square one in trying to identify the naked corpse of a young, female Caucasian left to decompose in a forested area near Union Township between September and October 1973.

Anyone with information about this cold case murder is urged to call Pennsylvania State Trooper, Nathan Trate, at 717-865-3647.  Alternately, tips can be emailed to ntrate[at]pa.gov.
