The 18-year-old went missing in May of 2008 in what was determined at the time not to be a runaway scenario.

Maddux’s family has been searching in vain for the youth ever since his unexplained disappearance.

Sadly, after seven years they’ve finally learned that their long lost loved one -- what remained of him -- was never very far from home.

Apparently Joshua Maddux perished only about a mile from his family’s residence in Woodland Park when he tried to enter a remote cabin via its chimney and then couldn’t extract himself or call for help.

Contractors attempting to raze the dilapidated building this year found the missing teen’s body wedged inside the stone structure, and dental records were then used to ID the victim.

No foul play is suspected, although the county coroner conceded that, due to the unusual and grisly circumstances of Maddux’s death, “there are going to be some questions out there that are unanswerable.”
