Louisiana officials are seeking the public’s help in solving the suspicious disappearance and drowning death of a young man from St. Mary Parish this weekend.
Nevis Sterling was first reported missing by his family on Sunday afternoon when, in the course of their search for him, they found his car abandoned at an area convenience store.
Not more than 24 hours later, a tugboat crew fished the 25-year-old missing man’s corpse out of the Intracoastal Waterway in Amelia, LA.
Nevis Sterling’s cause of death hasn’t been determined yet because the results of an autopsy are still pending, but the investigation into the circumstances of his disappearance is “active” and “ongoing.”
Detectives of the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office are urging anybody with information about Sterling’s missing persons case, and/or his apparent drowning, to call them at 337-828-1960 or 985-384-1622.
