Jail Death of Accused Cop Killer Probed in Hattiesburg - Mississippi

Dec 12, 2015

Accused cop killer Marvin Banks was found “unresponsive” in his jail cell yesterday and later pronounced dead.

The 30-year-old black man was being held in the shooting deaths of two Hattiesburg Mississippi police officers during an ordinary traffic stop last spring.

Three other suspects who were either accessories to the double homicide or who aided Banks after the fact were also charged in the capital murder case and awaiting trial.

A Forest County Sheriff’s official said EMTs were called to the jailhouse on Friday to administer aid to their stricken prisoner but could not revive him.

Banks was then transported to an area hospital where he died.

An inquiry has been launched into the cause and manner of his sudden death.
