Rogue Postman Arrested for Obstructing Mail in PA

Jul 23, 2015

If you live in Philly and were expecting a piece of mail that just didn’t come, and didn’t come, and didn’t come … it’s probably because postman Patrick D’Ambrosio is on your route and decided not to deliver it.

But, never fear, the shiftless 48-year-old non-deliveryman most likely chucked it into his garage or the back of his personal vehicle, where, hopefully, it might still be located and in a deliverable condition.

Throwing away thousands of recipients’ mail in the Tacony district of Philadelphia PA is precisely what federal prosecutors say D’Ambrosio did with some 22,500 letters, parcels and periodicals, beginning in the spring of 2014.

So that’s why he has been officially charged now with obstruction of the U.S. Mail.

For his very weird crime, the rogue postal carrier was also “placed on non-duty status,” according to a Post Office spokesman.

In this case it isn't clear if that’s reinforcing bad behavior, though, or punishing it.
