Stoned Motorist Posed With Cop for Selfie During Arrest for Driving While Stoned (photo)

Aug 11, 2015

A gleefully stoned motorist posed with a cop for a selfie during his arrest for driving while stoned, then posted it on his Snapchat account.

According to the incident report, after 20-year-old pothead Gilbert Phelps failed a sobriety test and was taken to the police station for booking, he asked the patrolman if he could share a pic of the *photo-worthy* event.

“During the testing process, the defendant requested to take a Snapchat selfie with me to which I happily obliged,” the arresting officer Ben Hektoen explained.

The exuberant suspect, who’d already admitted that he was pretty high, also informed Officer Hektoen that he had “captioned the photo using emoji icons showing a police car, next to a passenger car, next to a tow truck.”

The Snapchat selfie shows smiling Iowa-patrolman Hektoen giving the thumbs up as he pauses to “oblige” the stoned young photographer, just prior to officially busting him for driving under the influence.

“Happily” though, a breathalyzer test proved defendant Phelps hadn’t been operating his now-impounded motor vehicle while intoxicated.
