The Fox Lake cop was found dead from a torso wound in a swamp near Highway 12 on September first, and a massive manhunt for the trio of killers he was allegedly chasing on foot there was fruitlessly launched.
Two months later, following an intensive probe into Joe Gliniewicz’s activities leading up to his violent death, authorities have decided that the 52-year-old lawman and ex soldier took his own life.
The motive for his “carefully staged suicide” -- committed in such a flamboyant manner it appeared to be a Line Of Duty Death -- was to avoid prosecution for years of criminal wrongdoing.
A sad conclusion that confirms what many had already begun to suspect.
