MISSING: Beau to Daughter of Annie Lenox Feared Drowned in Hudson River

Aug 9, 2015 - by Eponymous Rox

Another Hudson River kayaking mishap -- this one involving the beau to Annie Lennox’s daughter -- has resulted in a high profile disappearance and presumed drowning.

Tali Lennox-Fruchtmann, 22, was boating with her 32-year-old boyfriend Ian Jones near the historic estate of Staatsburgh NY early Saturday morning when their craft capsized in swift waters.

Dutchess County investigators have hinted that alcohol may have played a part in the accident, which was exacerbated by the fact that neither victim was wearing a lifejacket.

The daughter of pop-star Annie Lennox is said to have been promptly rescued by a passerby, but Jones vanished in the massive waterway and, a day later, still remains unaccounted for despite “extensive searches.”

Apart from probable intoxication and reckless handling, no foul play is suspected in the overturning of the couple’s craft, nor in Jones’s subsequent missing persons case.

That sharply differs with a very similar capsizing incident in the Hudson River this past spring when Latvian-born Angelika Graswald, 35, was charged with staging her wealthy 46-year-old fiancé’s drowning death by somehow tampering with his kayak.

Missing presumed drowned

Oddly, neither Vincent Viafore or his accused wife-to-be was wearing a flotation device, despite that both were experienced boaters and familiar with the threat that the Hudson’s dangerously choppy and chilly waters could pose that time of year.

Viafore’s body was found over a month later slightly downriver near West Point Academy, and Graswald remains jailed in advance of her premeditated-murder trial.

Today, dive teams and patrol vessels resumed looking for the latest missing kayaker, Ian Jones, who is described as a slender 6-foot-3 Caucasian male with short dark hair; last seen wearing jeans and a denim shirt.

The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office is heading up this search-and-rescue effort and further asks that anyone who sights the missing man or who has info about the case phone (845) 486-3800 or the Sheriff’s tip line at (845) 605-CLUE.
