An upstate NY woman who lived with her slain baby for months was arrested and charged with second-degree murder yesterday.
Prosecutors in Batavia are accusing Christina Colantonio of deliberately killing her infant girl “shortly after birth” this spring, then stashing the small corpse at her rental unit near Buffalo New York.
A houseguest stumbled upon the child’s remains in Colantonio’s apartment last Thursday and immediately contacted 911.
An autopsy is still pending to determine the cause and manner of the newborn’s death, but police have already hinted they “have enough evidence to come to a conclusion it was intentionally caused.”
The 28-year-old suspect is believed to have secretly birthed the baby at home, although her motive for committing infanticide is still being investigated.
Christina Colantonio reportedly lived in the upstate NY community of Batavia by herself, but has two other children whose names and whereabouts are not being disclosed.
